This program is offered in view of Malaysia’s evolving consumer lifestyle that has contributed to a healthy growth rates in the retail industry averaging above 6% per year. The population has moved from basic sustenance needs to other leisure shopping activities as a result of rising affluence and education levels. There is now a need for retail professionals to cope with the growing demands of the sophisticated shoppers.
The Government is also actively promoting shopping activities as part of its efforts to attract foreign tourists and this creates more demand for retail professionals able to meet the needs of such group of consumers. The growth of shopping complexes and mega malls also create career opportunities for graduates in retail management.
The courses in the program include courses that impart corporate social responsibility by exposing students to the norms of social and ethical values.
